Ronald "Youngblood" Martin, Sr.

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Ronald "Youngblood" Martin, Sr., who left this world unexpectedly at his home on July 12, 2026. Born on December 1, 1958, in the heart of Ozark, Alabama, Ronald was the beloved son of Lucius and Mary Lowery, who preceded him in death. His journey through life was marked by dedication, resilience, and a profound love for music and family. Ronald's early years were spent in Tennessee , where he graduated from Metro Public School, laying the foundation for a life enriched by knowledge and community spirit. Driven by a sense of duty to his country, Ronald proudly served in the U.S. Army for three years, achieving the rank of E-3. His service was characterized by courage and commitment, earning him an honorable discharge after sustaining an injury. The world came to know him as Ron Youngblood, the iconic voice from WVOL 1470, where he worked as a radio announcer for many years. His charisma and passion for music, spanning from the 1970s to the early 2000s, made him a cherished figure on the airwaves. Ronald's extensive record collection was a testament to his lifelong love of music, a source of joy and solace throughout his life. In addition to his career in radio, Ronald also dedicated his time to working as a security guard, a role he embraced with the same integrity and dedication until his health began to decline. Despite the challenges he faced, Ronald's spirit remained unbroken, and his love for his family never wavered. Ronald is survived by his devoted children, Ronald and Tierra Martin, and TaBoya Holman, who carry forward his legacy of love, strength, and resilience. He was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride into his life. A service to honor and celebrate Ronald's life will be held on July 24, 2026, at 10:06 a.m. at the New Restoration Community Church, located at 110 Glancy St. Suite 202. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Ronald are invited to join in remembering a man whose life was a testament to love, music, and family. Visitation for Ronald will be 10-10:30am with memorial to begin at 10:30-11:30am. His interment will be at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery located 7931 McCory Lane Nashville, Tn, 37221 at 1pm. Repass will be held at 416 Moss Trail Goodlettsville, Tn 37207 at 4pm-6pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Ronald's generous spirit and his commitment to helping others. The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their support and kind words during this unexpected time of loss.
