In Loving Memory of Ronald Turner
October 9, 1959 - April 11, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ronald Turner, a beloved son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this world on April 11, 2026, at the age of 66, following a tragic motorcycle accident. Ronald was born on October 9, 1959, in Robbins, Illinois, to Dorothy and Jethro Turner. He was preceded in death by his father, Jethro, and is survived by his loving mother Dorothy and his devoted stepfather, Durey.
Ronald's life was rich with love, laughter, and dedication. He was a cherished brother to Michael, Charles, and Jethro Jr., and a devoted father to his only child, Crystal Hopkins-Ewing, whom he raised with love and pride alongside his former partner, Karlene. His legacy continues through his six grandchildren, Ra’Shawntae, Shenaya, Brandon, Brianna, Brennon, and Jayce, and one great-grandchild, Kylian, who were the light of his life. Ronald's family extends to a large network of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will deeply miss his presence.
In 1979, Ronald met the love of his life, Karlene, with whom he shared a beautiful journey that blessed them with their daughter, Crystal, three years later. Their love story spanned over two decades. In later years, Ronald found love again with Jalisa, with whom he spent his final years in Austin, Texas, a place he called home and where he experienced profound joy and fulfillment.
Ronald's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to helping others. He proudly served his country in the military from 1970 to 1974, demonstrating courage and commitment. His passion for helping others led him to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2021, and he spent 22 years as a dedicated Mental Health Administrator, where he touched countless lives with his compassion and wisdom.
Outside of his professional life, Ronald was an active member of Faithful Hope, where he played the base drum for 12 years, bringing music and joy to his community. He was also a mentor to young men at local community centers, where he generously volunteered his time to guide them towards brighter futures. Ronald's hands were always busy, whether building houses, fixing cars, gardening, or even singing, and his heart was always open to those in need.
Ronald's life will be celebrated at a service on April 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Harrell Funeral Home, located at 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX, 78745. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring Ronald's memory and celebrating a life well-lived.
In a special message from his family, his daughter Crystal shares, "Daddy, you know the love me and my children had for you. I would have never imagined this day would come as soon as it did. You were my world and I know that I was yours. I know there is no more suffering or struggles that you have to go through. Just know we will be alright."
Ronald Turner will be remembered for his kind heart, his unwavering love for family, and his dedication to serving others. While he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit and legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege of knowing him.
