It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Rula on September 7, 2026, after a brief illness. Ronald slipped away peacefully, hand in hand with his beloved wife and greatest love, Terry. Born on June 11, 1960, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Ron lived a life filled with love, laughter, and service. Ron was a devoted husband to Terry S. Rula, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring romance, culminating in their marriage after 25 years together. He was a loving and proud father to his daughter, Deneen Rula, and son, Keoki. He also embraced his role as a stepfather to Christy, Kenny, and Jeff, and was a cherished grandfather to seven adoring grandchildren. From a young age, Ron demonstrated a commitment to service, enlisting in the U.S. Navy at just 17 years old. His distinguished military career spanned over two decades, from 1977 to 1998, during which he spent 14 formative years in Hawaii, before returning to the mainland United States. In California, Ron served as a revered Navy instructor, sharing his knowledge and passion with younger generations. One of Ron's proudest accomplishments was his contribution to the construction of the USS Cole in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He took immense pride in being a plank owner of this remarkable vessel, a testament to his dedication and skill. Ron concluded his esteemed military career with his retirement in Norfolk, Virginia. After the Navy, Ron continued to serve his community by transitioning to a career as a government contractor and briefly sharing his wisdom as a school teacher. His colleagues and students alike were touched by his enduring sense of humor and his generous spirit. Ron was a man who relished the simple joys of life. He loved spending time with friends, engaging in lively conversations over a few beers, and showcasing his impressive trivia skills. His quick wit and infectious laughter brought joy to all who knew him, leaving behind countless cherished memories. Ron was predeceased by his parents, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms into the next world. In honor of Ron's memory, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice. His legacy of love, laughter, and service will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
