It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Roland Johnson, affectionately known as Ron, who left this world on May 21, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on December 3, 1941, in the nurturing town of Davenport, Iowa, Ron was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His departure leaves an immense void in the lives of all who had the privilege to know him. Ron was the cherished son of William and Ida Johnson, who have since passed along with his sisters Sandra and Shirley, his brothers Wesley and Glenn, and his dear son Gregory. Despite these profound losses, Ron's spirit remained unbroken, serving as a beacon of resilience and strength for his family and friends. In 1999, Ron embarked on a beautiful journey of love with Debby Meyer, whom he married on April 24th in their hometown of Davenport. Their 27 years of marriage were filled with love, laughter, and countless precious memories. Together, they built a life centered around family, joy, and togetherness. Debby, along with their sons John (Carol) Johnson of Cedar Rapids and Kurt (Debbie) Johnson of Springdale, Arkansas, continue to carry forward Ron’s legacy of love and kindness. Ron was the proud grandfather of David Johnson, Shane (Katie) Johnson, Shaun Johnson, Jay Johnson, and Angela (Travis) Sizemore. His heart swelled with pride at the mention of his great-grandchildren: Patrick, Peyton, Oliver, Ainsley, Abby, Nolen, Lainey, Jace, and Scarlett, each of whom brought him untold joy and happiness. He is fondly remembered by his sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, a multitude of nieces and nephews, and his special friend, Pat. Ron spent his professional life at Alcoa, where he excelled as an Electrical Foreman. His commitment to his work and his colleagues was unwavering until his well-earned retirement. Beyond his career, Ron was a man of many talents and interests. He was an avid golfer, a world traveler, and a master woodworker, creating beautiful furniture that now serve as cherished family heirlooms. Ron had a unique gift for lighting up any room with his quick wit and infectious smile. His unparalleled ability to tell a joke and lighten any mood was legendary among his friends and family. He was a compassionate soul, known for his kindness and generosity, who touched the lives of many in his community and beyond. Whether at concerts or community functions, Ron thrived in the company of others, always ready to engage with strangers and friends alike. The family invites all who knew and loved Ron to join them in a celebration of his life. As we gather to honor the remarkable life he led, let us remember the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the legacy he leaves behind—a legacy of warmth, kindness, and joy that will forever be etched in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ron's memory to a charity of your choice, to continue his lifelong mission of helping and uplifting others. May Ron rest in eternal peace, forever in our hearts and minds.
