Ronald Nixon, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished community member, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, at the age of 62. Born on April 7, 1964, in Baton Rouge, LA, Ronald was the treasured son of Ida Mae Nixon and Ronald Lee Nixon. He was preceded in death by his sister, Anissia Nixon, whose memory he carried with him throughout his life. Ronald leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by his devoted children, Ebony Hills, Reginald Nixon, and Jeremy Nixon. His seven grandchildren—Christopher Hills, Mykia Hills, Nefatedie Hills, Reginald Tackno, Kirsten Tackno, Janiya Womack, and Jeremy Morrison—along with his five great-grandchildren, Christopher Hills Jr., Major Simmons, A’Myri Hills, Malaysia Lewis, and Kaison Womack, will forever hold dear the countless memories shared with their "Paw-Paw." A proud graduate of McKinley High School, Ronald further pursued his passion by majoring in Culinary Arts, where he became renowned for his exceptional pecan and tea cakes and his unrivaled gumbo recipe. His culinary creations were a testament to his love for bringing people together through food. Ronald served with honor and distinction in the United States Marines from 1980 to 2007, achieving the rank of Head Sergeant. His dedication to his country was matched only by his commitment to his community. As a retired veteran and Mason Brother, Ronald's influence extended beyond his family, touching the lives of many through his active involvement at the New Covenant Christian Center, where he was a devoted member and leading figure on the Usher Board. Known for his infectious smile and humorous life lectures, Ronald was a beacon of joy and wisdom to all who knew him. His hobbies reflected his vibrant spirit, whether he was cooking, fishing, watching football, listening to jazz music, or working on his cherished Old School Box Chevy. Most importantly, he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. A celebration of Ronald's life will be held on September 18, 2026, at 9:30 AM at New Bethany Christian, located at 13855 Plank Rd, Baker, LA 70714, United States. Family, friends, and community members are invited to honor and remember a man who gave so much of himself to others. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all family members, friends, organization members, and church members, including Pastor Michael L. Smith and his family, for their unwavering support and presence in Ronald's life and now as they commemorate his legacy. Your love and support are deeply appreciated and will not be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Ronald's memory to a charity close to his heart, as a tribute to the compassionate and giving spirit he embodied throughout his life.
