Ronald Malcom Haynes
October 5, 1956 — March 16, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Ronald Malcom Haynes, a cherished soul whose life was a testament to strength, humor, and unwavering faith. Ronald peacefully departed this world on March 16, 2026, at the age of 69, surrounded by the love of his family at his home in Washington, DC, after a courageous battle with a long illness.
Born on October 5, 1956, in Washington, DC, Ronald was the beloved son of Walter and Eva Haynes. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Janice Wheeler, his brothers Reginald, James, and Anthony Haynes, and his son, Ronald D. Haynes. Despite the profound losses he experienced, Ronald's spirit remained resilient and his heart open, always finding joy in the company of his surviving family members: his devoted partner, Yvette Ruffin; his loving daughter, Annaneshia Jeffries; his sister, Margaret (Norman) Davis; and a host of adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was also blessed with two grandchildren, Madison Jeffries and Chandler Meeks who brought immense joy to his life.
Ronald's educational journey led him through the halls of Eastern High School, where he forged friendships and memories that would last a lifetime. His career took him to the C & Telephone Company for a brief period, and later, his extraordinary culinary talents found a home at RFK Stadium as a part-time concession worker. His passion for food and service led him to a fulfilling position as a cook for Aramark, where he worked until his health no longer allowed.
A lifelong member of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church, Ronald's faith was a guiding light throughout his life. From his early days singing in the Sunshine Band and the Gospel Choraliers to his active participation in church trips and conferences, he nurtured his spirituality and built lasting friendships within his congregation.
Ronald was an avid sports enthusiast, and his loyalty to Washington, DC teams was unwavering. Whether cheering for the Senators, Redskins, Bullets, Nationals, Capitals, Wizards, or his favorite, the Commanders, his passion for sports was infectious.
Known for his quick wit and a penchant for lightening the mood with a well-timed joke, Ronald's humor was a gift to everyone who knew him. Although his teasing nature might have seemed intimidating to those who didn't know him well, his nieces and nephews cherished his playful spirit and the warmth that lay beneath.
A Homegoing service to celebrate Ronald's life will be held on April 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church, located at 754 11th Street SE, Washington, DC. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Ronald are invited to join in honoring his remarkable journey.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Adventist White Oak Medical Center for their dedicated care and support during Ronald's final days.
Ronald Malcom Haynes will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and the love he so generously shared with everyone around him. His legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
