April 25, 1938 — October 19, 2026

In loving memory of Ronald L. Cooper, who peacefully departed this world on October 19, 2026, at his beloved home, surrounded by his family. Born on April 25, 1938, in the small, close-knit community of Comfort, West Virginia, Ron was a man whose life was filled with love, wisdom, and adventure. The son of Ira and Erma Cooper, Ron was raised with strong family values and a deep appreciation for history. He graduated from Sherman High School and pursued higher education at Morris Harvey College in Charleston, WV, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Business. His academic pursuits laid the foundation for a distinguished career with the Federal Highway Administration, where he dedicated over 30 years working on projects around the globe, contributing to infrastructure that connected people and communities. On August 1, 1956, Ron married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Henry, marking the beginning of a beautiful 70-year journey together. Their enduring love was an inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Kimberly Calvert, Ronald L. Cooper II, and Sean Cooper, who remember him as a devoted and loving father. Ron was also a cherished grandfather to five grandchildren—Amber Rader, Cameron Cooper, Michael Calvert, Candice Calvert, and Jordon Cooper—and a proud great-grandfather to nine great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Cooper, with whom he shared a deep bond. He is survived by his loving sisters, Sandra Pack and Sue Cameron, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. Beyond his professional accomplishments and loving family, Ron was a man of many passions. He was an avid sports enthusiast, with a particular fondness for the LA Dodgers. He enjoyed playing softball and bowling, activities that not only kept him active but also allowed him to forge lasting friendships. A history buff, Ron spent considerable time researching genealogy, tracing his family's roots back to the 1800s, a testament to his dedication to preserving his family's legacy. Ron’s family kindly requests that those wishing to honor his memory consider a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization close to his heart. Ronald L. Cooper will be remembered for his warmth, his dedication to family, and his unwavering kindness. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know him. While he may have left this world, his spirit remains alive in the hearts of all who loved him.
