Ronald Kuethe
June 11, 1938 — September 10, 2026
Ronald Kuethe, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on September 10, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on June 11, 1938, in Waverly, Iowa, Ronald was the cherished son of Raymond and Margaret Kuethe. His life was a testament to hard work, love, and the joy of community.
Ronald's early life was shaped in the nurturing environment of a farming family. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1956 and soon after, served with honor in the Air National Guard, stationed in Puerto Rico. It was there that he met the love of his life, Terri, whom he married on December 30, 1960. Together, they spent 48 wonderful years, raising three children, Ronnie, Cindy, and Michelle, and creating a home filled with laughter and love.
A pioneer in his field, Ronald was among the first turkey farmers in Iowa. His dedication and passion for agriculture led him to become part owner of Iowa Turkey Products in Postville, Iowa. In 1980, he served as president of the Iowa Turkey Federation, where his leadership and vision were celebrated by many.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ronald was a deeply engaged member of his community. He sang in the choir at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner, sharing his voice and spirit with the congregation. His love for golf was well-known, as was his commitment to the Meadow Brook Golf Club, where he not only played but also served as groundskeeper.
Ronald's commitment to community extended to his support of Sumner athletics, especially girls' golf and volleyball. His presence at games was a source of encouragement and joy for many young athletes. Known for his sense of humor and love of teasing, Ronald's warmth and wit endeared him to all who knew him.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Terri, and his parents, Raymond and Margaret. He leaves behind a loving family, including his children Ronnie (Colleen), Cindy, and Michelle; his siblings Allan, Kathy, Janet, Mike, and Deb; his cherished four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.
A service to celebrate Ronald's life will be held on September 26, 2026, at Becker & Son Funeral Home, located at 111 West 5th Street, Sumner, IA 50674. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sumner EMS and Sumner Community Hospital, organizations that provided care and support to Ronald in his final days.
The Kuethe family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Community Memorial Hospital, Sumner Emergency Services, Happier at Home, and Cobblestone Court for their compassionate care of Ronald. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
