It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of Ronald Johnson, a remarkable soul who touched countless lives with his warmth, kindness, and enduring spirit. Ronald passed away peacefully at Sterling Care in Bel Air, Maryland, on April 28, 2026, at the age of 76. Born in the vibrant city of Baltimore, MD, on November 11, 1949, Ronald was a beacon of love and light to his family, friends, and community.
Ronald was the cherished son of the late Dorothy and Leonard Winn, who lovingly guided him through his early years. Despite the challenges of his blindness, Ronald was determined to pursue an education and graduated from the School for the Blind. His resilience and passion for life set the foundation for a life filled with purpose and connection.
Throughout his life, Ronald wore many hats, each with dedication and grace. He began his career as a maintenance worker, a role that taught him the value of hard work and perseverance. With an unwavering faith, Ronald answered a higher calling and served as a priest, eventually owning his own church. His leadership and compassion inspired many, as did his venture into entrepreneurship with the operation of a beloved corner store in Baltimore City.
Ronald was a gifted singer, known for serenading everyone he met with songs that emanated from his joyful heart. His voice was more than just melodic; it was a testament to his love for life and his ability to bring people together. Those who were fortunate enough to know Ronald will forever remember his infectious laughter, his ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved, and the lasting impressions he left on every person he encountered.
Ronald’s legacy is carried on by his surviving family members, who will continue to cherish his memory. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Dunn; his niece, Antoinette Dunn; and his nephew, Michael Dunn. His children, Ronald Johnson Jr., Sam Burns, Gian Wiggins, Ronsena Johnson, Jon Benet Johnson, and Camille Norwood, along with his daughters-in-law, Quinn Johnson and Gina Burns, and his son-in-law, Darryl Wiggins Sr., will forever hold him in their hearts. His beloved grandchildren, Dorian, Dajiana, Kayla, Kaleb, Kevin, Brandon, Mia, Tia, Antonio, Resean, and Darryl Jr., along with his great-grandchildren, Amari, Anuel, Ava, Brandon Jr., Nico, Nolan, Jahsei, Josiah, Jeremiah, Soul, and Zeus, will continue to celebrate the legacy of love that Ronald has left behind.
Ronald shared a lifelong bond with his former wife and dear friend, Darice Reed, whose companionship was a source of joy and support.
Ronald Johnson’s life was a symphony of love, and his memory will forever resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, as his light continues to shine brightly in the lives of those he touched.
