Ronald James Strawcutter

Ronald James Strawcutter, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully at his home on July 24, 2026, after a brief illness. Born on December 5, 1939, in Grand Ledge, Michigan, Ron lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those around him. He was 86 years old. Raised by his parents, James and Alice Strawcutter, Ron carried forward their legacy of warmth and integrity. Predeceased by his parents, his cherished daughter Dana Alwine, and an infant son, Ron is now reunited with them in peace. His spirit and memory live on through his devoted wife, Rose Strawcutter, who shared a life filled with love and laughter with him. Together, they built a strong family foundation centered around their other two children, Dawn (Bob) Metzger of Fayetteville, GA, and Ryan (Jessica) Strawcutter of Elkridge, MD. Ron was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Brittany (Roger) Becker, Amber Alwine, Katelyn and Kayla Metzger, and Mason, Hunter, and Bridget Strawcutter. His legacy continues to flourish through his two great-grandchildren, Kennedy Alwine and Paxton Becker. Ron always looked forward to his conversations with his brother Rick (Betty) Strawcutter. His family was his pride and joy, and he loved nothing more than sharing his love of sweet treats with them and a golf cart ride to the park. A graduate of Grand Ledge High School in 1957, Ron chose a path of service by enlisting in the Marines immediately after, foregoing his graduation ceremony to serve his country. His career was marked by dedication and hard work as he became a parts salesman, working for Diamond Reo Trucks, Osterlund Giant Trucks, and finally retiring from Spartan Motors Inc. Ron was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peachtree City, GA. His faith guided his life and interactions with others, providing him a community in which he found joy and purpose. He was a man of many interests, known for his love of Houghton Lake, MI, where he and Rose spent many of their retirement years enjoying pontoon rides and hosting friends and family. His appreciation for the outdoors was evident in his love of mowing his yard and always being on the lookout for which tree needed to be removed. Ron always made sure an American flag was flying proudly in the yard of the homes he occupied. A visionary ahead of his time, Ron saw potential where others saw none, often flipping houses as a hobby before it became popular. He was a man who took pride in his work, whether it was renovating homes or ensuring his family understood the importance of civic duty, particularly the right to vote—lessons he imparted with passion and conviction. Known for his warm smile and infectious chuckle, Ron had a knack for making those around him feel at ease. His sweet tooth was well-known, and his grandchildren could always count on finding a stash of candy or ice cream treats at his house. Ron was a man who lived life fully, valuing family, hard work, and the simple joys of life, especially his favorite Fox News station. A celebration of Ron's life will be held on August 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, located at 700 Ardenlee Parkway, Peachtree City, GA 30269. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Peachtree City, GA, in Ron's memory. Ronald James Strawcutter leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering commitment to those he held dear. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him.
