Ronald James Koepsell, born on March 13, 1944, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, peacefully passed away on July 1, 2026, at the VA Hospital in Milwaukee after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 82 years old. Ronald was the beloved son of the late Gerhard Koepsell and Lydia (Moeller) Koepsell. Ronald is survived by his devoted wife, Karen, and his loving sisters, Margaret Hartwig, Judith (Adrian) Ehlers, and Mary Sorrentino, along with several nieces and nephews who adored him. He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, Brothers-in-law: James Hartwig and Sal Sorrentino, sister-in-law Norine (Theis) Metzger, in-laws Norman and Marge Theis, and numerous other close relatives. Ronald's life was a testament to love, friendship, and perseverance. He was cherished by his family and friends, and he dedicated his life to those he held dear. In 1986, during Memorial Day weekend, Ronald was blessed to meet the love of his life, Karen Margaret Theis. Embodying the essence of Genesis 2:18 = “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” A few months later they married: October 25, 1986, and for nearly 40 years, they shared a life filled with love and companionship. Throughout his life, Ronald exemplified the values of kindness, humility, and resilience. His laughter and warmth were infectious, bringing joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Ronald's steadfast faith and unwavering love for his family were the cornerstones of his life, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire. A man of deep faith, Ronald found strength and solace in his spiritual beliefs, which guided him through life's challenges and triumphs. He was a beacon of hope and compassion, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. In honor of Ronald's life and his generous spirit, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary / Martin Luther College / or / Wisconsin Lutheran High School continuing his legacy of giving and kindness. Ronald James Koepsell will be dearly missed but never forgotten. His memory lives on in the hearts of each of you. As we celebrate his life, let us remember the love he had for his Savior and his wish that each of you would know would know Him also. A memorial service will be held to commemorate Ronald's extraordinary life. Details will be shared with family and friends at a later date. May Ronald rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love he shared so freely throughout his life.
