Ronald J Tinkham
May 9, 1936 — April 23, 2026
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Ronald J Tinkham on April 23, 2026. Ronald, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, left this world as he lived—quietly and comfortably in the warmth of his home. He was 89 years old.
Born on May 9, 1936, in the close-knit community of Old Town, Maine, Ronald was the beloved son of Walter E and Doris L Tinkham. From an early age, Ronald learned the values of hard work, love, and devotion, which he carried with him throughout his life. He graduated from Old Town High School, where he first developed his lifelong passion for sports, a fervor that remained with him throughout his years.
In his youth, Ronald proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Caloosahatchee. His time in the Navy not only honed his skills and discipline but also deepened his appreciation for the camaraderie and bonds of friendship that would define his personal relationships.
On January 9, 1965, Ronald married the love of his life, Diane M Tinkham. Their marriage was a testament to love and partnership, filled with laughter, support, and shared dreams. Together, they built a beautiful family and home, providing a foundation of love and strength for their children, Lesley Bishop of Sacramento, CA, and Jason Tinkham of Lincoln, ME. Ronald was a dedicated father who imparted wisdom and kindness to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on in their hearts and actions.
Ronald's career at James River in Old Town, ME, was marked by diligence and commitment, traits that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. After his retirement, Ronald immersed himself in the joys of family, sports, and nature. He found peace and happiness in the serene beauty of Lake Winnipesaukee and the cherished summers spent on Pushaw Lake. An avid sports lover, Ronald could often be found cheering enthusiastically from the sidelines, his presence a beacon of support for his loved ones.
Though preceded in death by his dear wife Diane, his parents Walter and Doris, and his brother Robert, Ronald's spirit continues to enrich the lives of his children, Lesley and Jason, his four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. His enduring love, wisdom, and gentle humor will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
In honoring Ronald's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to celebrate his life and the profound impact he had on those around him. As we say goodbye, we find solace in knowing that Ronald is reunited with his beloved Diane and his family who have gone before him, resting peacefully in the eternal embrace of love and light.
The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Ronald's memory consider a donation to a charity of their choice, spreading the kindness and generosity that Ronald embodied throughout his life.
May Ronald J Tinkham rest in peace, forever remembered and cherished in the hearts of all who loved him.
