Ronald Gene "Ronnie" Thomas

March 10, 1949 — May 30, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Ronald Gene "Ronnie" Thomas, who departed this world on May 30, 2026, at the age of 77. Born in Sheridan, Arkansas, on March 10, 1949, Ronnie peacefully left this earthly realm at his home, surrounded by his loving family. His unwavering faith and deep connection with his Savior provided comfort as he transitioned to his eternal home. Ronnie was the cherished son of James Van "Rip" Thomas and Freda Davis Thomas, both of whom preceded him in death, as did his beloved older brother, James Marvin "Jimmy" Thomas of Natchez, MS, and his niece, Cheryl F. Sanders; his brother-in-law, James Fount May and nephew Joel F. May. He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Gloria May Thomas, who stood by his side through every step of his journey. He leaves behind his beloved son, Chad Thomas, and daughter-in-law, Kasey, whose care and devotion were a source of great comfort during his illness. Ronnie was a proud grandfather to Benjamin "Benji" Thomas and Hayes Thomas, whose laughter and joy brought light to his life; and Sister-in-law, Sylvia Roberts; nephews Jon Roberts and Melvin May whose love and devotion to him was unwavering. Ronnie's legacy is carried on by his nephew, Howard Thomas, and his wife, Olivia, along with a host of cousins who adored him. His community was enriched by his presence, and he was blessed with many close friends, including his lifelong friend, Bobby Cox, who shared a bond that stood the test of time. His faith was deepened through his friendship with Kevin Langford and the fellowship of Reverend Maurice Bryant and the congregation of First Baptist Church of Mendenhall and Weathersby Baptist Church, where Ronnie found solace and strength in his final years. A proud alumnus of Natchez, MS, Ronnie spent his career as a dedicated landman with Huseman Oil and later with Pansano Oil Company before his well-deserved retirement. Many in the mmunity will remember him from his years selling Cutco, a role he cherished for the connections it allowed him to make. Ronnie was a man of many passions, with his greatest joy found in the simple act of fishing. The peace of the water and the rhythm of the rod in his hand were his sanctuaries. He also had a keen interest in the stock market, spending years day trading with both enthusiasm and dedication. Known for his kindness, Ronnie embodied the belief in the innate goodness of everyone he met. His life was a testament to truth and humility; even in the face of his illness, he never complained, choosing instead to embrace each day with gratitude. Beyond his professional life, Ronnie served his community with love and dedication, teaching Sunday School classes and ministering to the elderly at the local nursing home. His commitment to his faith, his family and his community were the defining factors in his life. The family extends their deepest gratitude to his daughter-in-law, Kasey Thomas, for her unwavering devotion and care during his illness. Special thanks are also offered to the AdventCare Hospice nurses and support staff, whose compassion allowed Ronnie to remain at home with his family. His sister-in-law, Sylvia Roberts, is also remembered for her unequaled dedication and support throughout his journey. Special thanks and gratitude to Dale May for always being there to pray and support him. Ronnie's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, faith, and kindness. His spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. As we bid him farewell, we find solace in the memories he leaves behind and the assurance that he is now at peace, fishing in heavenly waters.
