Ronald Christenson

Ronald Christenson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on July 21, 2026. He was 79 years old. Born on December 2, 1946, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Ron was the cherished son of the late Orville and Veronica (Strass) Christenson. Ron lived a life filled with service, dedication, and love. He graduated from Woodward Granger High School in 1966, after which he served his country with honor in the United States Navy. From 1966 to 1970, Ron held the rank of E-4, serving bravely in Vietnam aboard the USS Chesterfield County LSR551. In Vietnam Ron earned a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Following his tour in Vietnam, he was stationed at NAS Saufley Field in Pensacola, Florida, until his discharge in 1970. After his military service, Ron returned to Iowa, where he dedicated eight years to the Perry Police Department and later spent 30 years at the Wiese Corporation in Perry until his well-deserved retirement. His commitment to his work and community was evident through his active involvement with the Redfield Legion Post 261 and the Perry Elks. On September 29, 1979, Ron married his wife, Kathy. Together, they shared 47 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Ron was a devoted father to his sons, Scot (Jennifer) and Todd, and a proud grandfather to Colton and Claire. His kids and grandkids were his greatest joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them, especially during family vacations that included his extended family. Ron had a remarkable ability to befriend everyone he met. His warm smile and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path. He was a man who loved the great outdoors and found peace and joy in nature's embrace. Ron’s gentle spirit and unwavering friendship will be dearly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, sons, and grandchildren, Ron is survived by his brother, Ed (Dee) Christenson, and sister, Mary Laird. He was predeceased by his parents, Orville and Veronica, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms. In keeping with Ron’s wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Ron’s memory may consider making a donation to a charitable organization of their choice. Ronald Christenson’s legacy of love, service, and friendship will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. His life was a testament to the values of kindness, dedication, and integrity, and he will be remembered with great affection and respect.
