It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald B. Dunham, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Ronald passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, in Bakersfield, California, surrounded by the family he cherished so dearly. He was 87 years old.
Ronald was born on December 30, 1938, in Bakersfield, California, a town that remained close to his heart throughout his life. Growing up with five siblings, Ronald developed a deep appreciation for family, which became the cornerstone of his life. He was a man who led with kindness and a gentle humor that endeared him to everyone he met.
A proud veteran, Ronald served his country honorably in the United States Navy. His dedication to service and community extended beyond his military years, as he became a cherished member of the church vessels of honor at his local church. His faith was a guiding light in his life, and he found great joy in contributing to his church’s mission and the fellowship it provided.
Ronald had a lifelong passion for landscaping, where his green thumb and meticulous attention to detail transformed ordinary gardens into extraordinary sanctuaries. His pride in his work was evident in every project he undertook, leaving a legacy of beauty and serenity in his wake. Through his career as a landscaper, he not only cultivated gardens but also cultivated friendships, often sharing his humor and warmth with clients and colleagues alike.
Above all, Ronald was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Joy Dunham, who was his steadfast companion and greatest supporter. Together, they raised four children, who continue to carry forward his values of love, laughter, and loyalty. Ronald's legacy also lives on in his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and pride.
Ronald's life will be celebrated at a memorial service on April 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at the Bakersfield National Cemetery, located at 30338 E. Bear Mountain Blvd., Arvin, CA 93203. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor a man who touched so many lives with his compassion and humor.
While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the remarkable life he led and the profound impact he had on those around him. Ronald B. Dunham’s legacy is one of love, laughter, dedication, and grace, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
