Ronald L. Broeker

In loving memory of Ronald L. Broeker, who passed away at the age of 92 surrounded in love by his family. Ron was born on December 30, 1933, in Bismarck, North Dakota. He was the cherished son of Leo and Margaret Broeker, who preceded him in death. He left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Ron was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Nona, with whom he shared a remarkable 66 years of marriage. Their love story began in Grand Forks, North Dakota, where they married on June 7, 1960. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising three children; Curtis, Stacy, and Susan. Ron's pride extended to his nine grandchildren; Dartanyan, Trystan, Keelin, Nolan, Bergen, Keaton, Chase, Kinsey, and Collette who brought him immense joy and fulfillment. A scholar and an educator at heart, Ron graduated from Central High School in Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1952. He pursued higher education with zeal, earning a master’s degree in education from the University of North Dakota in 1962. His passion for education and commitment to nurturing young minds led him to a distinguished career as a teacher and principal and eventually became the superintendent of the MacKenzie County School District in Watford City, North Dakota, from which he retired in 1992. Before embarking on his educational career, Ron served his country with honor in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. His time stationed in Tokyo, Japan, left a lasting impression, and he often shared fond memories of his adventures, including climbing Mt. Fuji. He carried his dedication to service into his civilian life, becoming an active member of the American Legion for 45 years, Masonic Lodge for 64 years, and the VFW. Ron's unwavering support for veterans' causes was a testament to his enduring spirit of generosity and camaraderie. Upon retiring, Ron and Nona embraced their love for exploration, traveling extensively across the country in their RV. They cherished the time spent amidst the stunning landscapes of the Black Hills of South Dakota and the warmth of Arizona, finding joy and peace in each shared adventure and meeting new friends along the way. Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Ron brought laughter and light to every room he entered. His legacy is not only found in his achievements but in the countless lives he touched with his kindness and humor. A service to celebrate Ron's life will be held on August 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 17750 Knollwood Drive, Monument, CO 80132. He will be buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to any organization supporting veterans, honoring Ron's lifelong commitment to those who served. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Pike's Peak Hospice for their compassionate care during Ron's final days. Ron's memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
