Roger Sr

Roger Sr, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, at the age of 59. Born on July 5, 1966, in Cassopolis, Michigan, Roger was a beacon of light and warmth to everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was the beloved son of the late Margaret Jean Ballard, whose love and guidance shaped the compassionate man he grew to be. Roger's legacy is lovingly carried forward by his devoted wife of 22 years, Kerri Ballard, who stood steadfastly by his side, sharing love and laughter throughout their journey together. Roger was the proud father of five children: Rakeesha Ballard, Jennifer (Aldonis) Esther, Shaneka Ballard, Roger (Reina) Ballard Jr, and Roderick Ballard. His love for his children was boundless, and he found immense joy in watching them grow and succeed. He was also a cherished grandfather to 12 grandchildren: Jontai, KeMauria, LayLianna, KeMiya, LaVaeh, John, Noah, Iverson, Roger III, Germarion, Keyliah, and Jordan, each of whom held a special place in his heart. A proud graduate of Ross Beatty High School, class of 1984, Roger dedicated 19 years of his professional life to AM General, where he excelled as a welder. His colleagues remember him not only for his exceptional skills but also for his dedication to mentoring and training young welders, always leading with a spirit of encouragement and camaraderie. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Roger was a man of diverse interests. He had a passion for baseball and was always up for a game of cards, relishing the opportunity to engage in friendly competition. His true joy, however, lay in spending time with his grandchildren, where he could be found cheering at their games or simply enjoying their company. Roger's personality was as vibrant as a summer's day. His quick wit and warm smile could light up any room, and he had an unmatched ability to lift spirits with his jokes. His kindness and generosity were felt by all who met him, leaving an indelible mark on the lives he touched. A service to celebrate Roger's life will be held on July 9, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Pleasant View Church of Christ, located at 60550 Crooked Creek Rd, Cassopolis, MI 49031. Family, friends, and all whose lives Roger impacted are invited to join in honoring a life well-lived. Roger Sr will be dearly missed and fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire and guide his family and community for generations to come.
