Roger Dean Miesner

September 23, 1943 — October 31, 2025

With heavy hearts and profound respect, we remember and celebrate the life of Roger Dean Miesner, who passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on September 23, 1943, in Enid, Oklahoma, Roger was the cherished son of Edwin and Elizabeth (Bessie) Miesner, both of whom predeceased him. Roger's life was a testament to devotion, hard work, and an unyielding spirit. He was a man who wore many hats, from serving his country in the Army Reserves at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas, where he was a respected Drill Instructor, to his career in optometry and maintenance. Roger's journey began with an education in accounting from Enid Business College, which laid the foundation for his varied and successful career. He was employed at Brown's Optician for several years in Enid, Oklahoma, worked in the Maintenance Department for the City of Enid, and engaged in construction alongside his cousin Les Simunek. After relocating to Montgomery, Alabama, Roger continued to excel in the field of optometry until his well-deserved retirement. On April 22, 1977, Roger married the love of his life, Phyliss Jean, in Enid, Oklahoma. The couple shared 48 beautiful years together, building a family filled with love and laughter. Roger is survived by his devoted wife, Phyliss Jean Miesner, and their beloved children: son Mark Miesner of Machesney, Illinois, daughter Kelly Brylnen of Loves Park, Illinois, and step-son Jeffrey Overstreet of Edmond, Oklahoma. Roger's family was his pride and joy, including his siblings Charles Miesner of Azle, Texas, Bill Miesner of Bushland, Texas, and sister Shirley Minke of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was predeceased by his son Loren Miesner and step-son Randy Overstreet, who remain lovingly remembered in the hearts of their family. Roger's legacy is one of warmth, humor, and a zest for life. His favorite pastime was rebuilding Volkswagen Beetles, a hobby that encapsulated his belief that "the bigger the boys, the bigger the toys." This playful spirit also shone through in his fondness for shooting at his brother Bill with a BB gun, a pastime that brought endless laughter and stories to share. His hobbies were a reflection of his personality—joyful, creative, and filled with a love for adventure. Roger's life will be celebrated at a memorial service on April 25, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Lamont Cemetery, located in Lamont, Oklahoma. It is a time to honor a man whose life touched so many, whose laughter brightened every room, and whose kindness left a lasting imprint on all who knew him. As we say goodbye to Roger Dean Miesner, we hold dear the memories of his life well-lived and the love he shared so freely. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
