In Loving Memory

Roger Dean Arnold
June 3, 1949 — September 15, 2026
We celebrate the remarkable life of Roger Dean Arnold, who passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026. Born on June 3, 1949, in the close-knit community of Orrville, Ohio, Roger was the beloved son of Melvin and Rose Arnold. He grew up in a warm and loving family, alongside his siblings Diana, Steve, Jo, Danny, and Robert, the latter two having preceded him in death.
Roger was a proud alumnus of Orrville High School, where he began to form the values and friendships that would guide him throughout his life. After graduation, he answered the call to serve his country and held the rank of Specialist 4 in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. His service was a testament to his courage and dedication, qualities that he carried into every aspect of his life.
A man of many passions, Roger was an active member of the VFW and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His love for the great outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for fishing, a pastime that brought him peace and joy. He possessed a keen mind for poker and a disciplined spirit for martial arts. Music was another of Roger's great loves, and his heart beat in rhythm with the Ohio State Buckeyes, a team he cheered for with unwavering loyalty.
Roger's legacy is lovingly carried on by his children, Christine, Richard, Michael, and Audrey, who were the light of his life. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren—Craig Holmes, Shanikwa Holmes, Ashley Hackman, Altoniera Hill, and Steve Hill—and a doting great-grandfather to thirteen great-grandchildren. Each of them holds a piece of his heart and the values he instilled in them.
In honor of Roger's service and dedication, a private military honors service will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. His family kindly suggests that memorial donations be made to charities dedicated to feeding hungry children, a cause dear to Roger’s compassionate heart.
Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, Roger's spirit, humor, and unwavering love for his family and community will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. His life was a testament to the power of love, service, and the joy of simple pleasures, leaving a legacy of warmth and kindness that will endure in the hearts of all who loved him.
