Roger Allen Coalter

July 16, 1949 — May 28, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roger Allen Coalter, who departed this world peacefully at his home on May 28, 2026, after a courageous and long-fought battle with cancer. Born on July 16, 1949, in the quaint town of Kent City, Michigan, Roger was a man of unwavering spirit, boundless love, and enduring faith, whose presence touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Roger was a steadfast pillar in his community, known for his generous heart and compassionate nature. As an active member of the New Life Fellowship Church, he dedicated countless hours to serving others, embodying the principles of kindness and service that defined his life. Within the church, he found a second family, one that supported and uplifted him through life's many challenges and triumphs. An avid outdoorsman, Roger found solace and joy in the natural world. Whether it was the thrill of the hunt or the serene patience of fishing, he embraced every opportunity to be amidst nature's splendor. His love for the outdoors was not just a pastime but a testament to his appreciation for the simple, yet profound beauty of life. Those who accompanied him on these adventures knew the depth of his passion and the peace it brought him. Roger's life was a tapestry of love, woven together with the threads of his cherished family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kay Coalter, whose unwavering support and companionship were the cornerstones of his happiness. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He is also lovingly remembered by his daughters, Wendy Kerr, along with her husband Todd, and Jenny Ergang, with her husband Travis. Their families, along with Roger's brother, Mike Coalter, and his wife Deb, remain a testament to his legacy—a legacy that lives on in the hearts of his 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, each a unique reflection of the love and wisdom he imparted. Preceding him in death were his dear children, Tracy Ann Wilson and Amy Fox, whose memories he held close to his heart every day. The bond they shared transcended the boundaries of this world, and he now rejoins them in eternal rest. Roger's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and faith. His journey was marked by grace and dignity, and his departure leaves an indelible void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. As we bid farewell to a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, we find solace in the memories he leaves behind and the enduring legacy of love he instilled in all of us. A celebration of Roger's life will be held at New Life Fellowship Church, where family and friends will gather to honor a remarkable man who gave so much of himself to others. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the church in Roger's memory, a fitting tribute to a life dedicated to faith and service. Though he is no longer with us, Roger Allen Coalter's light will continue to shine, guiding us in our own lives and reminding us of the beauty found in love, family, and the great outdoors. May he rest in peace, embraced by the arms of those he so dearly missed.
