With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rodney Louis Jones, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Rodney departed this world on April 19, 2026, at the age of 87, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. He passed away peacefully at home, after bravely confronting an unexpected illness, surrounded by the warmth of his cherished family. Rodney was born on January 27, 1939, in the vibrant city of Cincinnati, Ohio, to Albert and Maria Jones. He was preceded in death by his devoted parents and his sister and brother, who all held a special place in his heart. Rodney was a man of strength and faith, known for his unwavering belief in the power of prayer and his steadfast conversations with God, whether within the walls of the Methodist Bible Church in Ross, Ohio, or beneath the open sky. In 1972, Rodney married the love of his life, Phyllis Napier, on September 30. Together, they nurtured a loving family, raising their daughters Tracie who devoted her life caring for her parents and Amy with devotion and care. Their union was blessed with 54 years of shared dreams and countless memories. Rodney was a proud father to his daughters and a guiding light to his stepdaughter Lena. His heart swelled with joy at the sight of his grandchildren Alexia & Robert Howard, Aimee Rayford, Brittany Marchi, Megan Alexis (Kwame Woods), Morgan Lynn (Trevor Blevins) and Logan Reid (Kira) and great-grandchildren Audree, Mariah,River,Alexander, Sophia, Karli, Kennedywho were the apples of his eye. After graduating from high school in Cincinnati, Rodney served his country with honor in the United States Army. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of duty and discipline that he carried throughout his life. Rodney then embarked on a long and fulfilling career as a machine operator at Mosler Safe Company, where he worked diligently until his retirement. Never one to idle, he continued to contribute to his community by delivering medical supplies, ensuring others received the care they needed. Rodney was a man of simple pleasures, finding peace and joy in the great outdoors. He loved fishing and could often be found casting a line into tranquil waters, accompanied by his loyal pets. His love for nature was only rivaled by his love for his family. Rodney's life will be celebrated on April 24, 2026, at 2:00 -4:00 PM at the Integrity Funeral Services located at 3822 E Seventh Ave, Tampa, FL 33605.
