In Loving Memory

Rodney Croston
May 9, 1960 — February 16, 2026
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Rodney Croston on February 16, 2026, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Rodney, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, left us at the age of 65 due to complications from lung failure.
Born on May 9, 1960, in Idaho Falls, Rodney was the cherished son of Marjorie and Jim Croston. He grew up in a home filled with love and laughter alongside his late brother, Skip Croston, whose memory he held dear.
Rodney was a man who embraced life with open arms. He served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army, dedicating nearly three decades of his life from 1980 until 2009. His time in the military was marked by resilience and an unwavering commitment to his fellow soldiers, values he carried into every facet of his life.
After his military service, Rodney found joy in construction, a field he pursued not out of necessity, but for the sheer love of the craft. His work was not just about building structures but about building connections with those around him, leaving a lasting impact on both the landscapes and the hearts of those he worked with.
Rodney's greatest source of pride and joy was his family. He shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Gay Croston. Together, they raised four remarkable children: John, Nikki, Heather, and James, who were the light of his life. Rodney was a grandfather to ten grandchildren, and he took immense delight in the laughter and energy they brought into his world. His legacy continues through his three great-grandchildren, who will grow up hearing stories of their kind and loving great-grandfather.
In addition to his immediate family, Rodney leaves behind a community of friends and neighbors who were touched by his generosity and warmth. His gentle spirit and infectious smile will be missed by all who knew him.
Rodney's life will be celebrated in a private ceremony as per his wishes, gathering those closest to him to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to a charity of choice, reflecting Rodney's lifelong commitment to helping others.
As we say goodbye to Rodney, we hold close the memories of a man who loved deeply, served honorably, and lived fully. May his soul rest in peace, and may his spirit continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
