It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rodney Brown, a beloved father, friend, and community member, who departed this life on November 1, 2025, at the age of 61. Rodney was born on July 10, 1964, in Monroe, Louisiana, to the late Gwin Files and Eugene Brown. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and warmth that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Rodney was a dedicated father to his cherished children: Nicole, Rodney Jr., Julius, Christopher (and his wife Becky), Sasha (and her husband), Andre, and Drew. His family was the center of his universe, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness. Rodney's home was always filled with laughter, love, and the aroma of his famous gumbo, a testament to his southern roots and his love for bringing people together.
A lover of life’s simple pleasures, Rodney could often be found immersed in a game of basketball or cheering on his beloved New Orleans Saints. His passion for sports was infectious, often turning casual Sunday gatherings into spirited events. He always had something to say—a story to tell, a joke to share, or a comforting word of advice. His humor was a balm to many, providing warmth and joy to all who crossed his path.
In addition to his family, Rodney leaves behind a community that was touched by his kindness and generosity. He was a man who believed in giving back, often volunteering his time to mentor young athletes and support local charities.
