Rodney Armentrout, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully departed this world on February 27, 2026, at the age of 80, in the comfort of his home, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and love. Born on July 13, 1945, in the serene town of Webster Springs, WV, Rodney was a beacon of warmth and strength to all who knew him. Rodney was the cherished son of the late Rev. Lonnie and Velva Armentrout and grew up surrounded by a loving family, including his predeceased siblings, Larry, David, Georgia Rollman, Lura Rankin, Betty Posey, and Beverly Fahrion. He is survived by his devoted brother, Phillip, who shared many precious memories with him over the years. A graduate of Cairo High School in Cairo, WV, Rodney proudly served his country as a medic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. His unwavering commitment to helping others was evident in his military service, where he provided care and comfort to those in need. After his honorable service, Rodney embarked on a successful career as a tool and die engineer, dedicating over 30 years to Delphi Packard Electric in both Warren, OH, and Clinton, MS. His colleagues fondly remember his dedication, expertise, and quiet sense of humor that made every workday brighter. In 1969, Rodney married the love of his life, Mary F. Ball, and together they built a beautiful life over 56 years, marked by deep love and unwavering support for one another. Their union brought forth two cherished children: R. Scott (Sheila) Armentrout and Amy (Robert) Proffitt, who were the pride and joy of Rodney's life. As a father, Rodney was patient, understanding, and always present for his children, instilling in them the values of kindness and integrity. Rodney was blessed with four grandchildren: George and William Armentrout, and Garrett and Emily Proffitt. He found immense joy in spending time with them, creating cherished memories that will forever be etched in their hearts. Whether helping with a school project or sharing stories from his own life, Rodney's influence will be felt for generations to come. Beyond his dedication to family and career, Rodney had a passion for coin collecting, a hobby that allowed him to explore history and connect with fellow enthusiasts. His gentle spirit and thoughtful nature made him a cherished friend to many. Rodney's life was a testament to kindness and resilience, and his quiet sense of humor brightened the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy lives on through his family and the countless lives he touched with his generosity and warmth. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Rodney's memory to Disabled American Veterans, an organization that was close to his heart and reflective of his commitment to giving back to those who served. As we bid farewell to Rodney Armentrout, we remember a man of great character and compassion, whose life was a blessing to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he loved. May he rest in peace.
