Roderick Gene Patterson

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roderick Gene Patterson, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, who left this world on August 24, 2026, after a valiant battle with stomach cancer. Born on November 11, 1965, in Beckley, West Virginia, Roderick brought joy and warmth to all who knew him throughout his 60 years of life. Roderick was the cherished son of Eva Patterson and the late Robert St. Clair Patterson Senior. He was predeceased by his father, Robert, and his nephew, Ryland Patterson, whose memories he held dear. Roderick is survived by his siblings, Robert Patterson Jr. and his wife, Frances, Renee Patterson and her husband, Doug, Rhonda Yancey and her husband, Heath, and Robin Patterson and his wife, Nandi. His family, who were the center of his world, will miss him deeply. A proud alumnus of High Point Senior High in Prince Georges County, Roderick went on to build a respected career at the General Service Administration, where he dedicated 15 years of service characterized by professionalism and camaraderie. His colleagues remember him as a diligent and kind-hearted individual who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Outside of work, Roderick found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fan of television programs and music, with Ice Cube’s "Today is a Good Day" being his all-time favorite song. Roderick's love for good food was only surpassed by his love for the people he shared it with, as he treasured every moment spent with family and friends. A celebration of Roderick's life will take place on September 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Dunn And Son, located in Upper Marlboro, MD. Family, friends, and all whose lives Roderick touched are invited to join in honoring his memory and celebrating a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Roderick’s memory to a charity of your choice. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
