Roderick Demond Lane

In loving memory of Roderick Demond Lane, who passed away on April 28, 2026, at the age of 37. Roderick was born on September 18, 1988, in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, a place that would forever hold a special place in his heart. He was the beloved son of Gwennette McGrew and the late Frank Lane and was cherished by all who knew him. Roderick was a man blessed with an extraordinary ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him. He possessed an infectious spirit that could light up any room, and he never met a stranger. His friends and family fondly remember how he could make you mad and then, in the same breath, have you laughing again. Roderick was known for his genuine soul, a loving nature that will be dearly missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known him. Roderick's educational journey led him to earn his High School diploma from MS Job Corps in 2008. He further honed his skills at Co-Lin, where he obtained his certification in Welding, a testament to his dedication and passion for learning and growing. At the time of his passing, Roderick was employed with the United Postal Service, where he was respected and appreciated by his colleagues for his hard work and cheerful disposition. Family meant everything to Roderick, and he leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, Zariah Lane, aged 7, and Zaniyah Lane, aged 3, whom he shared with their mother, Zera Stanley. He was a devoted father, always eager to create laughter-filled memories with his daughters. Roderick is also survived by his loving mother, Gwennette McGrew, his brother Broderick Duane Lane, and his sister Bessie LaShon Lane. He was cherished by his aunts Gladys Byrd, Sandra Lane, and Mamie, uncles Melvin Barlow, John Coleman, and Woodrow Davis, and his great aunt Earnestine Turnage. The memory of Roderick will also be held close by Dan (Anna) McGrew and Alton (Velma) McGrew, along with a host of cousins, friends, and extended family. Roderick is preceded in death by his father, Frank Lane, who he now joins in eternal rest. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. A celebration of Roderick's life will be held on May 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Bethel MB Church, located at 3183 Ashley Road, Hazlehurst, MS 39083. During this time, family and friends will gather to honor a life that was vibrant and full of love. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love, kind words, phone calls, and texts they have received during this difficult time. They ask for continued prayers as they navigate this sudden and tragic loss. Roderick Demond Lane will be forever in our hearts, remembered for the joy and laughter he brought to our lives.
