September 18, 1988 — April 28, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Roderick Demond Lane, who left this world on April 28, 2026, at the age of 37. Born on September 18, 1988, in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, Roderick was a beacon of light and laughter to all who knew him. Roderick was the cherished son of Gwennette McGrew and the late Frank Lane. Though his father's passing preceded him, Roderick carried his memory with him, embodying the strength and warmth his father imparted. Roderick's legacy will be lovingly continued by his daughters, Zariah and Zaniyah Lane, who were the center of his world and brought immeasurable joy to his life. His partner in parenthood, Zera Stanley, stands as a testament to the family they built together. Educated at MS Job Corps, Roderick proudly earned his high school diploma before pursuing his passion for craftsmanship, receiving a welding certificate from Co-Lin Community College. His dedication and work ethic led him to a respected position with the United States Postal Service, where he was admired by colleagues and patrons alike. Roderick's spirit was as dynamic as his laughter—known for his ability to bring joy to others, even in their darkest moments. His love for fishing was only surpassed by the time he spent with his daughters, creating cherished memories that will endure in their hearts forever. He leaves in mourning his beloved siblings, Broderick Duane Lane and Bessie LaShon Lane, who will forever miss his companionship and humor. Roderick's legacy is further carried by his devoted aunts, Gladys Byrd, Sandra Lane, and Mamie, and his uncles, Melvin Barlow, John (Patricia) Coleman, and Woodrow Davis. His family circle extended to his great aunt, Earnestine Turnage, and great uncles, Dan (Anna) McGrew and Alton (Velma) McGrew, who were sources of wisdom and support throughout his life. The many friends and extended family who loved him deeply will remember the kindness and laughter he imparted to them all. A celebration of Roderick’s life will be held on May 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Bethel MB Church, located at 3183 Ashley Road, Hazlehurst, MS 39083. His family invites all who knew him to join in commemorating his life and sharing in the memories that unite us in love and loss. During this difficult time, the family expresses heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support received through calls, texts, visits, kind words, and most importantly, prayers. Your generosity of spirit has been a source of comfort, and we thank you deeply. Roderick Demond Lane will forever remain in our hearts as a loving father, devoted son, beloved brother, and true friend. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the laughter and love he shared, carrying it forward in our lives.
