It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roddy Dunnell, a cherished member of our community, on April 23, 2026. Born on July 24, 1956, in Edinburgh, Texas, Roddy was a beacon of kindness and joy whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Roddy was the beloved son of the late Jimmy and Elaine Dunnell. He is survived by his siblings, Michael Dunnell and wife Janet Howard, Corey Dunnell and wife Gloria Tellas, and sister Patrice Dunnell. His legacy also lives on through his nephew James Dunnell and great-niece Brooklyn Dunnell, alongside nieces Morghan Gray, Denelle Hebert and husband Chip Hebert, and Mallory Ottinger. Academically, Roddy was a proud graduate of Edinburg High School. His passion for mechanical engineering led him to Alvin Junior College and later, Texas A&M University. His dedication and commitment to learning were evident in every endeavor he undertook. A devout member of the St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church for over five years, Roddy was deeply involved in his faith community, finding joy and purpose in serving others. His famous saying, “Well, I must be out having fun, so leave a message,” truly encapsulated his zest for life and his warm, inviting nature that drew people to him. Roddy's life was rich with pursuits that brought him immense joy. An avid sports enthusiast, he was a loyal supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, often sharing spirited debates and camaraderie with fellow fans. His artistic talents shone through in his creation of beautiful stained glass designs, which reflected his unique eye for detail and color. Roddy's love for gardening and woodworking was evident in the meticulously maintained garden and handcrafted elements that adorned his home. Travel was another passion that Roddy indulged in, taking every opportunity to explore new horizons through scuba diving and camping adventures. These experiences enriched his life and provided countless stories that he enthusiastically shared with friends and family. Roddy's kindness and willingness to help those around him left an indelible mark on the lives he touched. His generosity and warm spirit were a testament to his character and served as an inspiration to all. A celebration of Roddy's life will be held on June 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, located at 230 Post Oak Drive, Dripping Springs, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, a cause close to Roddy’s heart. As we bid farewell, let us remember Roddy Dunnell not with sadness but with gratitude for the joy he brought into our lives and the love he shared so freely. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit and legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts and memories of those he left behind. Rest in peace, dear Roddy.
