March 9, 1947 — October 18, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Rockey J. Landis on October 18, 2026. Born on March 9, 1947, Rockey was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a cherished friend to many. His journey came to a peaceful close, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife of 61 years, Frances Landis, and other beloved family members. Rockey was the beloved son of the late Iva Lee and John Landis and was predeceased by his brother, Mike, and sister, Rita. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Frances Landis, who he married on November 25, 1965, in Brookfield, Missouri. Together, they built a life rich in love and laughter, nurturing a family that would become his greatest pride and joy. Rockey is survived by his children, John and Rachelle, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and humor. His granddaughters, Amanda Landis and Sarah Taylor, along with his great-grandchildren, Mason, Lainey, Jaxson, and Wyatt, held a special place in his heart. Rockey also leaves behind his siblings, Randy, Marilyn, and Robin, and his sisters-in-law, Sharon Mason and Shirley Fuller. A proud veteran, Rockey served his country with honor as a member of the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969, including service during the Vietnam War. His commitment to service continued throughout his life as he worked for Armco Steel for 30 years and later served as a guard at the Crossroads Correctional Center in Cameron, Missouri. Rockey was a man of many talents and passions. A member of the Shriners Club, he brought joy to countless children as a volunteer Shriner clown in parades and hospitals. His dedication to community and service was further exemplified by his active membership in the American Legion wherever he resided. Rockey's humor and warmth were ever-present, and he was known for having a joke to share, brightening the days of those around him. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at Fawcett Hospital for their compassionate care and support during Rockey's final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Rockey's memory to the Shriners children’s Florida Extended care Hospital, a cause close to his heart. As we mourn the loss of Rockey, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Death leaves a Heartache no one can heal; love leaves Memories no one can steal. Rest in peace, Rockey.
