Obituary of Roberto Toledo
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Roberto Toledo, who departed this world peacefully on May 7th, 2026, at the age of 82. Surrounded by the love of his cherished family, Roberto left us from the comfort of his home, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion.
Roberto was born on December 17, 1943, in the quaint town of Maria Teresa, Santa Fe, Argentina. He was the beloved son of Inginio Toledo and Carmen Bournot, who predeceased him, along with his dear sister, Edith Toledo. Roberto cherished the memories of his early life in Argentina, where he cultivated the values and passions that would guide him throughout his days.
In January 1973, Roberto married the love of his life, Marta, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family, raising their three children, Griselda, Adriana, and Ezequiel, in the quiet neighborhood of Martin Coronado, Buenos Aires. Their home was a place of warmth and laughter, where lifelong friendships and treasured memories were forged. In August 2000, Roberto and Marta embarked on a new chapter, moving to Norwalk, CT, and later settling in Bridgeport, CT, where Roberto lived until his passing.
Roberto was a master builder, a craftsman whose hands and vision brought countless homes and buildings to life in Buenos Aires and its surrounding areas. His career as an independent builder and remodeler was a testament to his dedication and skill. Upon arriving in the United States, Roberto briefly worked alongside his brother in the electrical trade before embracing retirement.
A man of boundless energy and curiosity, Roberto loved the outdoors, finding joy in fishing and hunting. He was a talented musician, often serenading his loved ones with his guitar, and a formidable chess player. His keen interest in world politics sparked many enlightening conversations, and he was known for his ability to connect with people of all ages, sharing experiences and learning from the diverse tapestry of human life. Above all, Roberto's greatest love was for his children and grandchildren, whom he adored deeply.
Roberto's compassion was not confined to his family alone; he was a man of civic justice, who respected human life and extended a helping hand to strangers in need. His love for animals reflected his boundless empathy and kindness. Music filled his life, with genres ranging from classical to folk, tango to rock, serving as the soundtrack to his vibrant existence.
Roberto is survived by his beloved wife, Marta, his oldest daughter Griselda and her husband Jorge Di Scala with their daughters Natalia, Valentina, and Milena; his daughter Adriana and her husband Gustavo Grasso and their son Maximo R Toledo; and his son Ezequiel Toledo. He also leaves behind his older brother Juan Carlos Toledo and his children, John C Toledo with his family, and Allister Toledo. His extended family includes cherished cousins in Argentina and dear family friends, the Abbruzzese family. Roberto was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Roberto's life will be held on May 12th, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Spadaccino and Leo Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, located at 315 Monroe Tpke, Monroe, CT 06468. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Rosi, whose support during the final weeks of his life moments will be eternally appreciated.
In remembering Roberto Toledo, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering spirit, a life that touched all who had the privilege to know him. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
