Robert William Leslie

November 15, 1938 — July 2, 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert William Leslie, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. Robert passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2026, following a surgical procedure. Born on November 15, 1938, in Lansing, Michigan, Robert was the beloved son of the late Edmund William Leslie and Jean Ann Stebbins. Robert's life was marked by love, devotion, and an unyielding spirit. He was married to the love of his life, Geraldine Monroe, on April 16, 1960, in Lansing, Michigan. Their union, filled with laughter and shared dreams, was a beacon of love until Gerry's passing. Together, they raised three loving children: Kathy, Bob (Sue), and Sharon (Ron), who carry forward his legacy of kindness and wisdom. A graduate of Everett High School, Robert was a man of many interests and talents. He was an avid hunter, never missing the opening day of deer season, and a passionate fisherman. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his joy in sharing that passion with others. Robert was a former member of the Skokie Valley Power Squadron, where he created lifelong friendships and shared countless adventures. Family was the cornerstone of Robert's life. He was a devoted grandfather to Heather (Robert), Eddie, and Billy, and a great-grandfather to Audrey, Claire, Norah, and Emmitt. His family fondly remembers him as a man filled with endless stories and seemingly unlimited knowledge. He was a source of strength and courage, a protector and an encourager, who lived life with authenticity and grace. Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife Gerry and his parents, Edmund and Jean. His memory continues to live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. A service to honor Robert's life will be held on July 17, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Justen Funeral Home, located at 3700 W. Charles J Miller Rd, McHenry, IL 60050. As his family gathers to celebrate his life, they are comforted by the love and memories he has left behind. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Robert's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his generous spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others. Robert William Leslie was more than a great man; he was the perfect man for his family. He lived unapologetically, embracing both his strengths and flaws, and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his family finds solace in knowing he rests easy, watching over them with love and laughter. Thank you, Grandpa, for the legacy of love and light you have left behind.
