August 26, 1931 — May 12, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert Turner Jr., a cherished patriarch and devoted friend, on May 12, 2026. Born on August 26, 1931, in the warm embrace of Dawson, Georgia, Robert was the beloved son of the late Mattie Weldon-Turner and Robert Turner, Sr. Robert's journey through life was marked by an unwavering faith and a boundless compassion that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. A lifelong and faithful member of Mount Sinai Apostolic Faith Church, he was a man who lived his beliefs through acts of kindness, generosity, and wisdom, embodying a spirit of love that inspired all. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mattie M. Turner, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. Together, they built a family that stands as a testament to their love and commitment. Though he has now joined five of his beloved grandchildren—Shakila J. Mitchell, Shalakia P. Turner, Sharia J. Mitchell, Shedrick Turner, and La’Mario Kelly—and two great-grandchildren in eternal peace, his legacy lives on through the many lives he touched. Robert is survived by a large and loving family, including his three daughters, Susan Turner, Wanda “Mikeal” Lovejoy, and Blondie “Billy” Toombs, all residing in Thomasville, Georgia. His four sons, Robert “Williedean” Turner III of Boston, Georgia, Ronnie Turner, Henry/Pete “Joann” Turner of Thomasville, Georgia, and Robby “Pashuna” Turner of Orlando, Florida, continue to carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. A special place in his heart was reserved for his niece, Yvette Martin of Albany, Georgia, and his devoted nephew, Bob Turner. His loving sister, Justine Slaughter of Doerun, Georgia, and his brother, Oscar Turner of Thomasville, Georgia, survive him, as do his brothers-in-law, Major Martin of Moultrie, Georgia, and William Martin of West Palm Beach, Florida, and his dear aunt, Louis Turner of Orlando, Florida. He was preceded in death by five of his siblings, whose memories he cherished deeply. Robert's life was a testament to the power of familial bonds, as evidenced by his expansive family that includes 49 grandchildren, 91 great-grandchildren, and 35 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. His loving goddaughter, Cynthia Laing, along with several bonus children, also held a special place in his heart, each remembering him as a guiding light in their lives. Remembered for his kind spirit, Robert's presence brought comfort, laughter, and guidance to many. His absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and the community he so deeply cared for. A service to honor and celebrate Robert's life will be held at Mount Sinai Apostolic Faith Church on May 23, 2026, at 1:00 PM. While the burial will be private, the family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. As we say goodbye to a remarkable man, we find solace in the indelible legacy he leaves behind—a legacy of love, wisdom, and unwavering faith that will continue to inspire generations to come. Robert Turner Jr. will forever be missed but never forgotten.
