Robert Muirhead

August 10, 1954 — July 1, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Muirhead, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who peacefully departed this world on July 1, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his cherished family. Born on August 10, 1954, in Hollandale, Mississippi, Robert lived a life filled with love, dedication, and steadfast loyalty. Robert was the beloved son of the late James and Lucille Muirhead, who predeceased him, along with his son, Adam Muirhead, whose memories he kept close to his heart. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn Muirhead, with whom he shared many fulfilling years of marriage, blending their families into one. A proud graduate of Florence High School, Robert pursued a career that reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to family traditions. He worked alongside his father in the family roofing and sheet metal business and later ventured into agriculture, raising Black Angus cattle and soybeans. His career path led him to work for Consolidated Freight until its closure, and he finally retired from Cliburn Trucking Company. Robert was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing and hunting. His love for the water was unparalleled, and he cherished every moment spent in his boat. Even as his health limited his activities in later years, his heart remained connected to the natural world he so dearly loved. An active member of the Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star Organization, Robert's community involvement reflected his values of service and brotherhood. He was known for his protective nature and unwavering loyalty, qualities that endeared him to both his biological family and the family he chose. Robert is survived by his daughters, Robin (Kris) Jackson and Courtney (Presley) Laypath, Jessie, and Elizabeth (Nate); his sons, Andy (Kara) Bennett and Matthew Bennett; his sisters, Helen (Mickey) Pigg, Jeanie Pigg, Betty (Ricky) Thornton, and Renea Muirhead; and his adoring grandchildren, Sara Grace (Kody) McElroy, Julia Remus, Lainey, Ivy, Savannah Bennett, and Jasper Bennett, along with numerous others who filled his life with joy and laughter. He will also be fondly remembered by his nieces, Jennifer (Craig) Lawson and Kathy Thornton, and his nephews, Michael, Mike (Suzanne) Thornton, and Josh (Heather) Haycraft, as well as numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. A celebration of Robert's life will be held on July 11, 2026, at Harrisville Baptist Church, Harrisville, MS, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and the indelible mark he left on their hearts. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Kathy for her dedicated care and encouragement during Robert's final days, and to all who have offered support and comfort. Robert's legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter will continue to inspire those who knew him, and he will be dearly missed by all.
