Robert Steadman Sanders

July 7, 1946 — October 17, 2026

Robert Steadman Sanders, beloved father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 17, 2026. Born on July 7, 1946, in Kansas City, Robert, affectionately known as Bob, lived a life rich with love, laughter, and dedication. Bob was the cherished son of the late Ernest and Dorothy Sanders. He was predeceased by his loving parents, his brother Ernest Jr., and his devoted wife of 55 years, Diana Sanders, whom he lost in July of 2024. Their love story, which began on May 4, 1969, was a testament to enduring partnership and mutual respect. A proud graduate of Odessa High School and the University of Missouri Rolla, Bob pursued a rewarding career as a chemical engineer. His remarkable tenure at Honeywell spanned over five decades, culminating in a well-deserved retirement in 2022. Bob found immense joy in his work and was known for his passion, dedication, and a knack for solving problems with ease. Beyond his professional achievements, Bob was a man of diverse interests. An avid fisherman, he cherished the annual fishing trips that became a beloved family tradition. Despite rarely catching much, the joy he found in these trips was immeasurable, especially when his grandchildren, Ella and Wyatt, boasted about catching the biggest fish. Bob’s love for collecting stamps and coins was complemented by his sharp wit and dry humor, endearing him to all who knew him. Bob’s family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his devoted son, Craig Sanders, and his wife, Ashley. He was the proud grandfather of Ella Glenn and Wyatt Sanders, who brought light and laughter into his life. Bob also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Robert Green, and his wife, Cella; his niece, Jenni Latimore; his nephew, Bryan Green, and his wife, Marta; and his great-niece and nephews, Grace, Josiah, and Samuel. Bob's legacy is one of love, humor, and kindness. He had a remarkable ability to answer questions before they were even asked, especially during spirited games of Trivial Pursuit. His family fondly remembers his laughter and the warmth he brought into their lives. The Sanders family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Aquinas Hospice and the University of Kansas Hospice House for the compassionate care they provided Bob in his final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made in Bob’s memory to the American Parkinson Disease Association, an organization close to his heart. Bob Sanders will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and his memory will be cherished for generations to come.
