It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert Sforza, cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, on May 3, 2026, at the age of 85. Robert departed this world at the Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, where he received dedicated care for 23 years following a heart transplant. His indomitable spirit, strength, and gratitude for each extra day gifted by a donor heart were hallmarks of his enduring legacy. Robert was born in Newark, Ohio, on January 28, 1941, to the late Alfred and Annie Sforza. Growing up in a loving family, he was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Barbara Kidner and Diana Brucklemyer, and his brothers Neal and Rick Sforza. Despite these losses, Robert cherished the love and memories shared with his family, which shaped him into the remarkable person he became. A proud graduate of Licking Valley High School, Robert carried forward the values of hard work and perseverance into his career with Owens Corning, where he dedicated years of service contributing to the company’s success. Robert was a man of many talents and interests, known for his unyielding curiosity and zest for life. His passion for collecting treasures and his knack for finding a good deal were legendary among friends and family. Robert also possessed an enduring love for cars, spending countless hours buying, tinkering, and bringing new life to them. An avid outdoorsman, he found peace in the quiet solitude of hunting, where he connected deeply with nature. The warmth of Robert's personality was felt by all who knew him. He was a man of integrity and kindness, always ready with a gentle smile or a helping hand. His unique ability to connect with people and his unwavering optimism were testaments to his character, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met. Robert’s legacy is lovingly carried on by his devoted children, Dawnell (Rick) Reece, Sandra Sforza (Dennis Bennet), and Bobbi (Chris) Sorrell. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Larry Sforza, Melanie Sforza, Becky Sforza, Tony Sforza, and Brenda Hite, who will forever cherish the memories of their beloved brother. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Ross Heart Hospital and the Transplant Team for their compassionate care and dedication over the last 23 years. Their kindness and expertise provided Robert with a second chance at life, a gift for which his family will be eternally thankful. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, an organization close to Robert’s heart, in his honor. A celebration of Robert’s life will take place at a future date, where family and friends will gather to share stories and remember the extraordinary life of a man whose love and laughter will be dearly missed but never forgotten. May Robert rest in peace, his spirit forever embracing the loving memories he leaves behind.
