Robert Seidman

It is with deep sorrow but fond remembrance that we announce the passing of Robert Seidman, who left us on July 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 17, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, Robert was the cherished son of Lewis and Bee Seidman and a beloved brother to the late David Seidman. Robert's incredible journey began in Cleveland, where he completed his early education at University School in Gates Mills, Ohio, graduating in 1962. He then pursued higher education with a degree in industrial management from Miami University in 1966. His thirst for knowledge and personal growth was further reflected when he joined the U.S. Air Force, embarking on officer's training school in September 1967. Robert's service to his country was marked by bravery and dedication, completing 196 missions as an F-4 fighter jet pilot during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to the United States, he continued to contribute as a T-37 pilot instructor, a role in which he excelled, mentoring others to become instructors themselves. In February 1979, Robert transitioned from military service to a commercial aviation career with Federal Express. His passion for flying led him to become the most junior Falcon Captain at FedEx. His career spanned 25 years, during which he held various roles, ultimately retiring as a Captain of the DC-10 on January 1, 2004. Beyond his professional achievements, Robert's heart was dedicated to service as a volunteer firefighter. For 44 years, he selflessly served with the Germantown, Piperton, and Rossville Fire Departments. His colleagues remember him as a dedicated and passionate firefighter, always ready to share his knowledge and lend a helping hand. Robert's life was rich with interests, particularly his love for cars. He owned over 50 vehicles, notably exotic sports cars like Porsches, Ferraris, and Austin Healy Bugeyes. His garage was often filled with the sounds of a passionate hobbyist working on his latest project. Robert was a man who cherished family above all. He shared 59 loving years with his devoted wife, Linda, whom he married on June 17, 1967. Together, they raised two sons, James and Jeffery, who, along with Robert's four grandchildren, carry forward his legacy of love, integrity, and service. In honor of Robert's memory, the family invites those who wish to make a donation to a charity of their choice, reflecting Robert's spirit of giving and service. Robert Seidman's life was a testament to courage, dedication, and unwavering love. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
