Robert Rineer
May 13, 1943 — March 9, 2026
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Rineer, a husband, brother, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on March 9, 2026, at Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center. Bob was born on July 13, 1943.
Robert was the son of the late Samuel Rineer Sr. and Doris Breneman. In 1961, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the U.S. Navy. For four years, until 1965, Robert served with honor and distinction, embodying the values of duty and sacrifice that are the hallmark of our armed forces. Following his military service, Robert worked for career the Pennsylvania State Liquor Control Board.
Forty-three years ago, Bob married Rosemary Demmitt. He was also the stepfather to Christine and Melissa Smith.
Robert's life was enriched by his brothers, Samuel and Gary Rineer, with whom he shared countless memories. He also shared a close friendship with Mark Simmons, who devotedly filled the place of the son Bob never had.
Bob was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Columbia, PA. He also had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life, such as watching the Detroit professional sports teams, a pastime he passionately followed. Robert particularly cherished the arrival of spring, reveling in the beauty of flowers and the playful presence of rabbits, which never failed to bring a smile to his face.
