It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Robert Ray Smith, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Robert peacefully departed this world on June 3, 2026, at his home in the warm embrace of his loving family. Born on February 7, 1948, in Humboldt, Tennessee, Robert was a beacon of light, joy, and humor to all who knew him. Robert was the beloved son of the late Virginia and Welton Smith. He was also predeceased by his brother, James, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond. His legacy continues through his devoted wife of 46 years, Christine, their cherished children, wonderful grandchildren, and a precious great-grandson who brought a twinkle to his eye. A proud veteran, Robert served his country with honor as a member of the U.S. Air Force from April 1967 until January 1971. His time in the service was marked by unwavering dedication and a steadfast commitment to his fellow servicemen. Following his military service, Robert found his calling as a locksmith, a profession where he applied not just his skills but also a sense of integrity and trustworthiness that endeared him to many. Those who knew Robert will remember his remarkable sense of humor, always ready with a joke or a kind word to lift spirits. His humility and kindness were hallmarks of a life spent putting others first, and his gentle nature left an indelible mark on all who crossed his path. A celebration of Robert's life will be held on June 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Thousand Hills Church, located at 8380 S Stemmons Fwy, Hickory Creek, TX 75065. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Robert are warmly invited to join this service to honor his memory and share the joy he brought into the world. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Robert's memory to the American Cancer Society, an organization close to his heart. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. "I’m..." is how Robert would often begin his stories—stories that will be cherished and retold, ensuring his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. Robert Ray Smith will be dearly missed, but his legacy of laughter, love, and kindness will continue to inspire and guide us. May he rest in eternal peace.
