March 5, 1960 — February 12, 2026

Robert Phillips Jr., a beloved father, brother, partner, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on February 12, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on March 5, 1960, in Jonestown, Mississippi, Robert was the cherished son of Eddie Jean Washington and Robert Phillips Sr. Robert’s journey began in the heart of Mississippi, but it was in the bustling spirit of Chicago that he truly flourished. He attended Chicago Public Schools, where his love for intelligence and his quick wit were first nurtured. These formative years laid the foundation for a life defined by a deep appreciation for learning, self-reliance, and a tireless work ethic. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Jean Washington and Robert Phillips Sr., as well as his beloved sons, Lil Robert "Head" and Roland Phillips, and his precious daughter, Robin Phillips. Their memories were cherished dearly by Robert, who carried their spirits with him in every step he took. He is survived by his loving daughters, Reka, Raven, Robianna, and Autumn Phillips, each of whom carries forward his legacy of love, resilience, and compassion. Robert is also survived by his dear sister, Patricia, who always stood by his side as both a guiding light and a cherished confidante. His long-time partner, Judy, was his steadfast companion, sharing in all the joys and challenges that life presented. Robert also leaves behind a "slew of grandchildren," nieces, nephews, and countless friends whose lives were enriched by his presence. Known for his infectious humor and unyielding compassion, Robert was a man of many passions. He was frequently found casting a line into the nearest lake, always ready for a great catch, be it Coho Salmon or a fat Catfish, which he would expertly prepare alongside his famous fried spaghetti. His love for the outdoors was evident in his well-tended garden, a sanctuary where he found solace and joy. A collector of old cars and antiques, Robert had a keen eye for treasures of the past, each item telling a story that he would eagerly share. Robert was a member of a community that esteemed him as much for his talents as for his unwavering respect for others. Known for his quick wit and self-taught wisdom, he was a beacon of strength and kindness, teaching those around him the importance of mutual respect and compassion. His presence was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing him. A celebration of Robert's life will be held on March 5, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Higgins Funeral Home, located at 244 E 138th St, Chicago, IL 60827. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering Robert, sharing stories of a man whose life was a testament to love, resilience, and the power of laughter. Robert Phillips Jr. lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and love. His legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he touched. Rest in peace, dear Robert, knowing you were deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
