At the age of 73, Robert departed this world surrounded by the love and warmth of his family, following a valiant battle with a long illness. Robert's journey began in Burlington, Vermont, where he was born to Betty Mae Bolton Lapierre and Maurice Leopold Lapierre on February 9, 1953. He was cherished by his parents and step-mother, Pauline Lapierre, and is now reunited with them, along with his brothers William and Stephen, in eternal rest. Robert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. On October 6, 1979, he joined in matrimony with the love of his life, Bonnie. Together, they shared 43 beautiful years, filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Miranda and Leanne, and a son, Robert. Robert's family expanded further with his beloved grandchildren: Ava, Arianna, Adilynn, Spencer, Henry, Andrew, and Kayden. His warmth and kindness extended to his daughters-in-law, Amaris and Lance Taylor, and his son-in-law, Daniel. He is also survived by his sisters, Anna, Margaret, Catherine, and his brother Michael, who will forever hold him in their hearts. A proud alumnus of Burlington High School, class of 1971, Robert's life was marked by service and dedication. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1974, including a tour in Vietnam. His career as a skilled carpenter spanned more than two decades, during which he took immense pride in his craftsmanship, contributing to the creation and improvement of countless homes and buildings. His work stands as a testament to his diligence and attention to detail. Robert's professional journey also saw him excelling in glass work and painting, showcasing his versatility and eagerness to embrace new challenges. Beyond his professional achievements, Robert found joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid outdoorsman, he relished in the tranquility of nature, sharing his love for hunting and fishing with his daughters, instilling in them both practical skills and a deep appreciation for the natural world. His knack for tinkering and refurbishing antiques was well-known, and he delighted in friendly games of cribbage, foosball, and darts, often surrounded by family and friends. Camping trips, particularly those with the Girl Scouts, were occasions he especially treasured, as they allowed him to impart his love for the outdoors to younger generations. Robert's life was defined by his unwavering dedication, remarkable grit, and a heart full of generosity. He was a man who approached life's challenges with determination, never hesitating to lend a helping hand to those in need. His strong work ethic and dependable character left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him, and his legacy of kindness and support will continue to inspire all who were touched by his presence. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered support and shared cherished memories of Robert during this difficult time.
