In Loving Memory

Robert P Wilson
June 12, 1952 — June 13, 2026
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Robert P. Wilson, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. Robert peacefully departed this world on June 12, 2026, at the age of 73, from natural causes while surrounded by loved ones at St Cloud Hospital.
Robert was born on June 13, 1952, to Carl and Edna Wilson, who preceded him in death. He was a cherished son and brother, growing up in a family that valued kindness and hard work. Robert's adventurous spirit and zest for life were evident from a young age, and he carried these traits with him throughout his life.
He went to Harding High School in St Paul. Robert went on to serve our country with honor in the Vietnam War from 1974 to 1978. His service was a testament to his dedication and courage, traits that would define his varied and accomplished career. Robert excelled in many professions, truly a "jack of all trades." He owned a laundromat in Benson and a company specializing in mobile home repair. His passion for history and craftsmanship led him to restore antique telephones, and he shared his knowledge as a welding instructor for Opportunity Enterprises. Robert also worked for Loral, Custom Rotomold, and the Burlington Railroad. He also had a locksmith business, Bobslockshop and owned a bakery in Glenwood for a short time.
Robert was a cherished member of ABATE, where his love for motorcycles found a community dedicated to safety and camaraderie. His hobbies reflected his diverse interests that included riding his Harley Davidson, fishing, painting, and chainsaw carving. Robert also found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as shopping with his wife Robbyn and playing with their two Boston Terriers, Chloe and Tazzy. Together, Robert and Robbyn enjoyed tending to their yard, a testament to their shared love for nurturing both plants and relationships.
On August 18, 2015, Robert married his soulmate, Robbyn Peterson, in a beautiful ceremony in Alexandria, MN. Their union was filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect. Robert had two children, Brian and Heather, and was a cherished brother to Don, Donna, Diane, Karen, and Carol. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren who will forever hold precious memories of their time with him.
Robert's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his legacy of warmth, wisdom, and friendship endures. He was a steadfast companion and a great listener, always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held on August 2, 2026, from 1:00-4:00 PM at The Walk in Center in Benson, MN. The Wilson family extends their sincerest gratitude to all friends and family who have supported them during this difficult time.
Robert P. Wilson will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the memories of those he touched. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he so generously shared with the world.
