Robert Nels Lyman

In loving memory of Robert Nels Lyman, we celebrate a life filled with love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to family and community. Robert was born on October 17, 1953, in Lynwood, California, to Robert LeRoy Lyman and Berniece Evelyn Hemstad. He peacefully departed this world on May 24, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family. Robert was a man of integrity and steadfast devotion, who built a life rich in love and service. He was the cherished husband of Carol (Forsberg) with whom he shared 52 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they nurtured a loving family that includes their children, Nels Eric (Andrea), Kenneth Robert (Kristina), Katherine Elizabeth (Jonathan Nieto), and Philip Langelier. Robert's legacy lives on in his adored grandchildren, Ezekiel Gomez, Nels Andrew Lyman, James Lyman, Easton Lyman, Madalynn Lyman, Olivia Nieto, and Madison Lyman, who were truly the best part of his life. He is also survived by his sisters in laws and brothers in law, Susan and John Fortugno, Kenneth and Patty Forsberg, Stephanie and Cary Mansfield, Landy Forsberg ( John d. 2026 ), Roberta and John Vadman and Robert and Jill Forsberg. Also by nieces and a nephew. Robert's educational journey began at Rio Hondo Prep in Arcadia, and he graduated from Arcadia High School in 1971. He furthered his studies at Riverside Community College, earning an AA in Accounting, and went on to achieve two business degrees from the University of Phoenix. His professional career spanned over four decades, beginning with a 15-year tenure at Sav-on Drug store, followed by a distinguished 27-year career with the County of Riverside, from which he retired in 2017. A man of many passions, Robert's heart belonged to baseball. He dedicated much of his life to coaching youth baseball, particularly with Moreno Valley Pony, where he also served on the board for many years. In his later years, he found joy and fulfillment as the JV coach at Valley View High School in Moreno Valley, inspiring countless young athletes with his wisdom and spirit. Robert was predeceased by his parents and his brother-in-law, John Forsberg. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, remembered as a pillar of strength, kindness, and generosity. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Robert's honor to organizations supporting youth sports, reflecting his lifelong dedication to nurturing young talent and fostering community spirit. Robert Nels Lyman will be profoundly missed, but his legacy of love and dedication will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him. May he rest in eternal peace.
