It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Micheal Higby, who left this world unexpectedly on March 18, 2026, at the age of 57. Born on October 27, 1968, in the close-knit community of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Robert’s life journey was one marked by dedication, love, and resilience.
Robert was the cherished son of Bill and Karen Higby, who instilled in him the values of integrity and compassion. He carried these values throughout his life, touching the hearts of all who knew him. Though his parents have preceded him in death, their legacy lived on through Robert’s actions and the family he built.
In June of 2000, Robert married the love of his life, Tamie. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Their bond was a testament to enduring love, and though Tamie passed away in 2023, their shared experiences remained a source of strength and comfort for Robert.
Robert was a devoted father to his children, Kaitlynn Bacon of Fort Dodge, Cassie Higby of Texas, and Amanda Higby of Indiana. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and was their unwavering support system. His legacy of kindness and perseverance continues through them, and he was especially thrilled to welcome his granddaughter, Scottie Bacon, into the world just five months ago. His heart brimmed with joy at the thought of being a grandfather, and his memory will be a guiding light for Scottie as he grows.
For over two decades, Robert was a respected and beloved figure in the Kansas City community, where he owned and operated an auto body shop. Known for his exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to his work, he earned the trust and admiration of many. Robert’s hands not only built and repaired, but they also created lasting relationships with customers and friends who valued his honesty and skill.
Robert was someone who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was sharing stories with friends, working on a classic car, or spending time with family, he approached each moment with gratitude and warmth. His unexpected passing in a car accident is a reminder of the fragility of life, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by his beloved son, Brandon, and his grandparents. His family takes solace in the knowledge that they are now reunited.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Robert’s life. While the gathering will be intimate, the memories of his kindness, humor, and dedication will be celebrated widely by all who knew him.
