It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert Louis Boyd Sr., aged 89, at his cherished home on April 11, 2026. Born on February 19, 1937, in Stanton, Tennessee, Robert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who touched the lives of many with his warm smile and infectious laugh.
Robert was the beloved son of the late Charlie and Dallas M. McBride Boyd. His life was marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to his family and community. Preceded in death by his children, Catherine and Robert Boyd Jr., as well as his siblings Homer, Harry, and Clyde Boyd, and Fannie Jackson, Robert now joins them in eternal rest.
A devoted husband, Robert leaves behind his cherished wife, whose love and partnership were the cornerstones of his life. He is survived by his seven children, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and resilience: Annette (Bruce) Clark Sr. of Stanton, Patricia (Gregory) Powers and Cheryl Boyd of Mason, Janice Wynn of Covington, Marcella (James) Jones of Arlington, and Erica and Kevin Powell of Mason. Robert's nurturing spirit lives on in his 23 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the pride and joy of his life.
His presence will be deeply missed by his sisters, Alma Wortham and Barbara (Johnnie) Sangster of Stanton, and Portia (Chester) Hodges of Mason, as well as his Aunt Geraldine Boyd of Covington and Uncle Louis Terry of Brownsville. Robert's extended family includes a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Known for his ability to lighten any mood, Robert had an extraordinary gift for bringing joy and comfort to those around him. His infectious laughter and warm smile could brighten even the darkest of days. Robert was a great listener, always knowing just the right words to say, and his gentle wisdom was a beacon to those who sought his counsel.
A service celebrating Robert's remarkable life will be held at St. Matthews Church, located at 296 Charleston-Mason Rd, Stanton, TN 38069, on April 19, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather in honor of a man whose life was a testament to love, compassion, and joy.
Though he has departed from this earthly realm, Robert Louis Boyd Sr. leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him. As we celebrate his life, we find solace in the memories we shared and the knowledge that his spirit lives on in each one of us.
