Obituary of Robert Lewis Hancock It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Robert Lewis Hancock. Born on July 18, 1941, in the close-knit community of Westlake, Louisiana, Robert peacefully departed this world on May 7, 2026, at his beloved home in Veracruz, Mexico, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Robert was the cherished son of Everett and Doris Rodrigue Hancock, who instilled in him the values of hard work, humility, and kindness. He was predeceased by his loving parents, his brothers Wayne, Roddy, and Ray, his sister Trudy Hancock Murray, and his son Robert Gregory Hancock, who all undoubtedly welcomed him into their embrace beyond the veil. A devoted family man, Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Antonia “Toni” Hancock, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. His legacy of love continues through his children: Craig Hancock and wife Susan, Jennifer "Jenny" Hancock Kober and husband Gerald, Amanda "Mandy" Hancock Smith and husband Roger, and Gabriel Hernandez and wife Linda. His joy and pride were his 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, whose lives he touched with his warmth, wisdom, and generosity. Robert’s siblings also survive him, including his sisters Alice Hancock Moon and Cathy Hancock Lanier, and his brother Mark Hancock, each sharing treasured memories of their time together. Robert served his country with distinction in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1961, an experience that fostered a lifelong appreciation for discipline and camaraderie. Following his service, he pursued a career as an electrician, a craft he mastered with dedication and skill. As a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, he was known for his unwavering work ethic and his commitment to helping others. His career took him across borders, where he embraced the beauty of different cultures and languages. Fluent in Spanish, Robert eventually made Mexico his home, a country whose vibrant spirit mirrored his own zest for life. He cherished his time there, finding joy in the simple pleasures of daily life, and sharing stories of his adventures with friends and family. Robert’s life will be celebrated with a service on June 19, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Hixson Funeral Home, located at 150 Bruce Circle. It will be a time to honor his journey, share fond memories, and find solace in the company of those he loved. In remembering Robert, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and a dedication to family and community. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and a reminder that true happiness comes from the connections we build and the love we share. Rest in peace, dear Robert, knowing you were deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
