Robert's life was a testament to dedication, love, and resilience. He was predeceased by his parents, his beloved grandmother Mamie Bethea, and his four brothers: Shepherd Lee, Benjamin Franklin, Lester Eugene, and William Rogers Carpenter. Yet, his legacy continues to flourish through his devoted wife of 57 years, Elsie Carpenter, and their loving family. Robert was a man who truly appreciated the value of hard work and commitment. After attending Carver High School, he embarked on a fulfilling career with Ford Motor Company, where he dedicated 35 years before retiring. His work ethic and dedication were unparalleled, earning him not just the respect of his colleagues, but also many lifelong friendships. Outside of work, Robert had an avid love and passion for golf. The serene landscapes of the golf courses were his sanctuary, where he found joy and peace. His passion for the sport was infectious, and he often shared it with family and friends, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime. Family was undoubtedly the cornerstone of Robert's life. He leaves behind a loving and expansive family, including his children Rodney (Darlene) Carpenter, Bryant, Dedrick Carpenter, William Starks, Calvin Starks, and Joann Starks. Robert also took great pride in his role as a grandfather to nine grandchildren and great-grandfather to eleven great-grandchildren. His sister, Sarah Carpenter Hicks, and brothers Prewlow (Marie) Carpenter and Alvin B (Mae Kathryn) Carpenter, along with a host of nieces and nephews, survive him and will continue to carry his legacy forward. Robert's gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the kindness he extended to everyone he met will remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His life was a tapestry of love, woven together by the relationships he nurtured and the lives he touched. In honoring Robert's memory, the family kindly suggests that donations be made in his name to a charity of your choice, reflecting the generosity and compassion he embodied throughout his life.
