In Loving Memory

Robert Leto-Patnode
March 30, 1938 — March 26, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Robert Leto-Patnode, who left this world peacefully with his family by his side on March 26, 2026, just four days shy of his 88th birthday. Born on March 30, 1938, in the picturesque town of Cooperstown, Robert was the beloved son of the late Robert Leto Sr. and Susan Leto.
Robert's life was a tapestry woven with wit, humor, and enduring love for his family. Known for his sharp, sarcastic wit and a penchant for dark humor, he brought laughter and joy to those fortunate enough to know him. His presence was a beacon of warmth, often echoing with laughter, especially during family gatherings in springtime, which he cherished dearly. These moments were filled with stories, jokes, and the kind of love that only grows stronger with time.
Robert's journey through life was marked by his love for travel, a passion that took him to many places, yet he always found his way back to the embrace of his family. His adventures and tales were as colorful as his personality, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories and life lessons.
He was predeceased by his devoted parents, Robert Sr. and Susan, and his former wife, Patricia Peters, whose memories he carried close to his heart. In the wake of his passing, Robert leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward the spirit of his laughter and love. He is survived by his beloved children, Karen Patnode and David Patnode, who were his pride and joy. His legacy further extends to his nine adored grandchildren—Brittany Ayers, Karen Patnode, David Patnode Jr., Lillian Patnode, Rachel Patnode—and two precious great-grandchildren, all of whom will continue to hold his memory dear.
A service to celebrate Robert's life will be held on April 3, 2026, at Tilapaugh Funeral Services, located at 28 Pioneer St., Cooperstown, NY 13326. Family and friends are invited to gather at 1:00 PM for a service filled with remembrance and gratitude, followed by a prayer service at 6:00 PM, where stories of Robert's life will be shared and his spirit honored.
In honoring Robert's memory, his family wishes to extend an invitation to all who knew him to join in this celebration of a remarkable life. His legacy, characterized by love, laughter, and a unique zest for life, will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
