It is with both sadness and a profound sense of gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Robert Lee Thomas, who left this world on March 1, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on August 15, 1939, in the small, welcoming town of Courtland, Mississippi, Robert was a gentle soul who touched the lives of everyone he encountered with his kindness and wisdom. Robert was the beloved son of Lee and Carrie Thomas, whose loving guidance shaped him into the remarkable man he became. He was preceded in death by his devoted spouse, Catherine Thomas, and cherished children, Ray and Terrell Thomas, who were always the light of his life. Robert was also predeceased by his brothers, James (Emma) and Teeroy Thomas, sister Dorothy Thomas, and his parents Lee and Carrie. Enduring a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's, amongst other illnesses, Robert faced each challenge with an unwavering grace and dignity that inspired all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will forever remain in the hearts of his surviving family members. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Linda Coleman (Ervin), Mae Catherine (Curtis), Lisa Thomas, Yvonne Williams Thomas, Andre Thomas, Denise Thomas, and Cassandra Thomas (Danny). His siblings Hattie Baquet, Elanie Hanks, Julius Thomas, Elizabeth Curry (Fred), Doris Thomas, Jeanette Thomas, and Cathedral Thomas hold his memory close, cherishing the countless memories they created together. Robert’s life was enriched by a host of grandchildren, family, and friends, who were all deeply blessed by his presence. Though his time with us has ended, the values he instilled and the love he gave will continue to resonate through the generations. In honoring Robert's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to commemorate his life. While we gather in a close circle to say our farewells, we invite those who knew Robert to celebrate his life in their own special way, remembering the joy he spread and the warmth of his spirit. Robert Lee Thomas was a beacon of love and kindness. His life was a testament to the power of family, the strength found in unity, and the enduring impact of a compassionate heart. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace.
