ROBERT LEE SMITH SR.

Robert Lee Smith Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on September 19, 2026. Born on June 6, 1941 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, he was the cherished son of Earnest Lee and Ruth Smith. Who also preceded him in death. Robert's life was marked by his steadfast commitment to family and community. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Lee Jr., his brothers, Issac and Frank, and his sister, Hazel and daughter in-law Lavern. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jacqueline Johnson Smith over 61 years, with whom he shared a loving marriage that began in West Virginia. Together, they built a family of three sons, that brought immense joy to Robert’s life. He leaves behind two sons, Vincent Sr.(Rose) and Allen , who carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. Robert was also a proud grandfather of Vincent Edward Jr. and Jalan, and a doting great-grandfather to his great-great-granddaughter, Adore Harper Smith. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. remembered by two brothers, ,John Wayne & Earnest, one brother in law, Pastor Martin, four sisters in law, Edwina, Marion, Angela & Susie ann. Robert dedicated 32 years of his professional life to the General Motor Assembly Company in Detroit, Michigan, where he worked until his retirement. His colleagues remember him as a diligent and reliable worker, always ready to lend a helping hand. A man of deep faith, Robert was an active member of the House of River Rouge Bible Assembly Church under the leadership of Pastor Love. He served his church community with dedication until his health began to decline. His gentle spirit and kind nature made him a beloved member of his congregation, touching the lives of many. Robert will be remembered for his loving and kind demeanor, a man who treated everyone with respect and compassion. His gentle spirit was a beacon of warmth and kindness to all who knew him, generosity and love for others. Robert Lee Smith Sr. will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
