In Loving Memory of Robert Lee Johnson: A Life Filled with Love, Laughter, and Family
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Lee Johnson on May 7, 2026, at the age of 55. Born on June 23, 1970, in Paterson, New Jersey, Robert was a beacon of love, kindness, and humor to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Robert was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, beloved brother, uncle, and loyal friend. His warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. On February 14, Robert married the love of his life, Nola Charline Johnson, and together they shared 32 beautiful years filled with unwavering devotion, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
He leaves to celebrate his life and legacy his devoted wife, Nola Charline Johnson; his stepsons, James Austin and Joseph Austin (Rachel); his daughter, Tashika Pompey; and 13 treasured grandchildren who were the light of his life. Robert's family was the heart of his world, and his love for them knew no bounds.
Robert is also survived by his brothers, Earl Johnson and Darrell Johnson (Cherry); his sisters, Carolyn Gunther (Craig), Lydia Smith, and Delayne Waiters (Stacy); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and dear friends who loved him deeply. His presence will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered.
Preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Margaret Johnson; his beloved brother, Phillip Johnson; and his mother- and father-in-law, Walter P. Land and Mary E. Clark, Robert now joins them in eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter.
Educated in the public schools of Florence County, Robert built a fulfilling career as a skilled brick mason. His work was characterized by dedication and craftsmanship, much like the way he built lasting relationships with those around him. Known for his warm smile and playful spirit, Robert was an endearing uncle and a friend to all, never meeting a stranger.
Robert found joy in life’s simple pleasures: watching sports, fishing, hunting, gardening, and caring for animals, especially his beloved chickens. Yet, his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, visiting neighbors, and being surrounded by family and friends. He lived a life filled with laughter and love, and his memory will forever be a treasure to those who knew him.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day,” a sentiment that rings true as Robert’s spirit continues to walk with us, leaving behind cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
A service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held on May 9, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in honoring a life that was indeed a blessing to all who knew Robert.
Robert Lee Johnson’s life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and family. His memory is a treasure, loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. May we all carry forward his legacy of kindness and joy, celebrating the life of a remarkable man who enriched the lives of everyone he met.
